Their overland tours are aimed at the independent budget conscious adventure traveller that enjoys the company of fellow travellers. They specialise in international departures and have an average of 10 different nationalities on tour. Overlands are conducted in custom built overland trucks, suitable for the terrains visited. A level of participation is required, but two highly trained overland guides/cooks accompany each tour. All the necessary camping equipment is supplied and the company are well kitted for the African terrains they visit. Intern
As an intern with the company, you will get first hand experience with the in-house workings of an adventure-orientated company. The focus of this company is on fun, excitement and outdoor travel in Southern Africa, and as an intern these aspects should be a big part of your personality too. As an intern you will be involved in the following tasks: • Focusing on the needs of their clients • Marketing by various means, that is hands on and web based • Dealing with clients and discussing trips with them • Organizing tours and itineraries • General administration and basic accounting • Doing reservations and bookings on the telephone, via e-mail and in person • Acting as a part of the team and contributing to the growth of the company An internship at Umkulu will offer you a great opportunity in the adventure industry, and also give you the chance to learn a lot about Southern Africa. Umkulu will do everything to ensure that your internship is a successful and enjoyable one where they will try to meet all your needs and requirements.

- As an intern working with the company you will work closely alongside with a person who will provide you with excellent knowledge in the tourism industry through her vast experience. Organising and making bookings for trips with service providers
- Assisting with the compiling of invoices & vouchers for clients
- Developing road descriptions for self drive trips. Assist with the maintaining of the website
- General office administration tasks such as filing, answering of telephone etc where necessary. Naturally there will be many other tasks to do as projects arise and working with Across Africa you will experience the dynamics of tourism operation in Cape Town
