The company, was established in 1966 and is situated at Cape Town International Airport. Over three decades, with bases in Cape Town, Kimberley and Durban, the SA The company has experienced the realisation of an Air Ambulance network and Flying Health Outreach Service with the capacity to provide effective and equitable healthcare to metropolitan areas as well as remote rural communities throughout the entire sub-Saharan Africa and the Indian Ocean Islands. The Service was formed into a trust by the SA Red Cross Society in 1994 and operates as an organisation not for gain. Since its launch the Flying Health Outreach Service has literally changed the lives of thousands of people living in rural communities. Continuing medical education and the upgrading of skills of rural health workers are a major objective of the Flying Health Outreach Service. Specialists accompanying the team to rural hospitals share their valuable experience with local staff thereby enabling them to improve their service to the community. Community health education is another important priority. Health education personnel are transported to rural areas where they conduct training and health promotion sessions in the community. The educational programme covers subjects such as HIV/AIDS, personal hygiene, environmental health, TB prevention, family planning, immunisation etc.
Internship
Working as an intern at the company, you will be based in the Marketing Department, helping the team to come up with new and innovative ideas. You will be involved in research on fundraising, Public Relations work and there will be elements of administration and filing. As far as Marketing involvement is concerned, you will be involved in updating marketing strategies, bringing overviews and information to meetings concerning features and changes in the marketing. You will be working on existing projects as well as working on your own project to establish new marketing strategies. As an intern, you will be accountable to the manager, which will involve reporting back regularly, completing tasks timeously, maintaining a positive company image and arriving at work and meetings punctually and well prepared. An internship with the company will provide you with ample opportunity to use your existing skills as well as develop new foundations and gain new experiences. The organisation will do their best to ensure that an internship with them is a successful and enjoyable one where they will make every effort to meet your needs and requirements

The Association exists to co-ordinate resources available to cancer patients in the community; to support and direct cancer research in South Africa and to promote healthy lifestyles and choices that will result in a reduction of cancer incidences and raise the health status of all our communities. Started in 1991 by a group of medical professionals concerned about the high incidence of cancer, the Association has grown to be one of the leading NGO’s in the country with 45 offices around the country and more than 12000 volunteers and 260 staff members. Their aim is to substantially reduce the impact of cancer by promoting health in all communities within South Africa through advocacy and the sustainable facilitation of research, prevention, early detection and care. With over R3 million worth of funds allocated towards cancer research annually, the Association is one of the largest sponsors of this kind of research in South Africa. Association ’s Research Committee comprises of reputable researchers who review applications for funding and decide on research projects to be supported at various academic institutions around the country. Funds are obtained largely through bequests, trusts and donations and managed by fund managers via the Board of the Association. Other services to patients and their families include Counselling/Support Groups; Interim Homes/ Day Care Centres and Assistive Devices as well as Home based care.

As an intern, volunteer working at the Association you will be involved largely in marketing, fund raising and events as the organization relies largely on donations from the public and private sector. You will also be involved in Health Promotion and health care and assisting with media drives and coming up with new initiatives and ideas. Association runs numerous projects year round and as an intern you will have the opportunity to participate in many of these. As an intern, interpersonal effectiveness is of high importance, and you will be required to incorporate the use of initiative as well as the quality, accuracy and timeousness of work. An internship with the Association will provide you with ample opportunity to use your existing skills as well as develop new foundations and gain new experiences. They will do their best to ensure that an internship with them is a successful and enjoyable one where every effort is made to meet your needs and requirements.
