Minibus taxis are loud and cheap, take you very fast from A to B in Cape Town and are one of the most popular ways of getting around for both locals and foreigners. These minibuses have fixed routes but also stop wherever you want to get on or off. As a result there are no timetables and no fixed stops.

Rikkis Taxis can carry up to 6 people in their stylish English cabs and operate in and around the city center and also in Camps Bay and the Waterfront. They are definitely cheaper than other normal taxis and they are also very reliable.

Taxis as elsewhere in the world, there are taxi companies in Cape Town, South Africa. The prices range from 8 to 10 Rand per kilometer. If you are staying for a longer period in Cape Town, it is common to call the same reliable driver. It is often faster than calling one of the Taxi operators and you can try to negotiate discounts and last but not least, the driver will find your accommodation immediately. Many taxis are bigger and can transport up to 8 people so it is also common to share a cab with other passengers to bring the price down. In general, make sure that the driver speaks English and has a taximeter.
