Braai (barbecue)

Organize a braai and invite all your friends!
Prepare some salads, bread with different dips and invite all your friends, it’s time for a braai (the South Africa term for barbeque)! The only thing you need is a braai and some coals!
Mzolis
Mzoli's is a popular spot that happens to be a butchery, but it is also a place to hang-out in the township on the outskirts of Cape Town. Buy some of their famous meat and braai it on no fewer than eight fires. Alongside the meat house is an open-air restaurant where there is usually a live band. By late afternoon around 250 people swarm in here and the restaurant is a good place to sit and watch township life. Bring your own drinks and bread to enjoy with your braai. You will also need plates and cutlery.
Address: Mzolis in Gugulethu
Direction: If you take the Modderdam Rd exit off the N2 out of Cape Town, turn left when you get to Klipfontein Road, Cross the railway line, pass a petrol station on your left, but carry on down Klipfontein. Turn left at about the second road after the intersection, and you will see Mzoli's immediately on your left.
Open: Every Sunday.
Braai Signal Hill
Signal Hill connects Kloof Nek to Lion’s Head, in the distinctive shape of a lion’s rump. On the top of the Signal Hill are some places, where it is allowed to light a fire and to have braai. (Be fire safe) Views from the 350m high summit are nothing short of spectacular, particularly at night, and picnic dinners with accompanying drinks is something of a capital pastime. In the evenings Signal Hill is a little like ‘lovers lane’ - popular with couples who are up there to enjoy the lights and the romance of the Table Mountain backdrop, particularly during summer when Table Mountain is lit at night.
Address: Signal Hill
Cape Town
Direction: Drive up the Kloof Nek Road, from the city and then take a right at the top of the hill.
Open: Always when you the weather conditions are good.
